Members of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul (or "Vincentians" ) are men and women who strive to grow spiritually by offering person-to-person service to individuals in need.
What do we do as Vincentians?
We work within our parish, the Eugene/Springfield community and in the world!

In the parish community:
 

• We collect food donations at mass each week. This food goes directly to the poor and is distributed by the SVDP Service Center.
• We assist the poor through the generous donations of the St. Peter Parish. Money donations are collected on the first Sunday of each month.
• We visit the poor each week, providing vouchers for furniture, appliances, clothing and household needs.
• We help with the annual Homeless Shelter.
• We support the Youth Group in their outreach to the homeless.
• We support the Secular Franciscans' Thanksgiving dinner for the poor, the homeless and for those alone.

• We help at the SVDP Service Center packaging food at Christmas
• We distribute Christmas food baskets
• We help with the annual Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving morning (this is just plain fun!)

• Vincentian groups link with one another. This is called "twinning" and keeps us aware of the presence of our faith commitment everywhere.
• St. Peter twinned for a year with a St. Vincent group in India."

Who chooses to become a Vincentian?
People of all ages who feel the call to compassion and love linked to a real world opportunity to help.

The Vincentian Prayer
Lord Jesus, deepen our Vincentian Spirit of friendship during this meeting, make us responsive to the Christian calling to seek and find the forgotten, the suffering or the deprived so that we may bring them your love. Help us to be generous with our time, our possessions and ourselves in this mission of charity. Perfect us in Your Love and teach us to share more fully the Eucharistic Sacrifice offered for all people.
